Wilmington colleagues get ‘Future Ready’

May saw another inspiring Learning at Work Week at Wilmington. Colleagues participated in a programme of activities to promote the benefits of continual learning.

The rise of the robots, longer working lives and changes to jobs and roles provided the inspiration for this year’s theme 'Shaping the Future': Subjects included:

  • How can we stimulate curiosity and exploration of what the future might bring?
  • How can we build and enhance learning cultures which help us to shape, adapt and be resilient to change?
  • How can we actively shape our individual, collective and organisational futures through learning?

The week included a programme of webinars and workshops from in-house experts. Wilmington's marketing professionals kicked off the week with a full-day session on education marketing. A panel of internal and external experts spoke about the future of education and how marketers should adapt to meet the needs of tomorrow's learners. Throughout the rest of the week employees got hands-on with new technology and shared user knowledge on digital tools such as Power BI for data visualisation, brushed up on how to find and hire the best talent and  tackled the subject of personal resilience.

Learning content from partners such as LinkedIn Learning, GoodPractice and Get Abstract was shared in a dedicated Yammer group, which kept the dialogue and conversation running throughout the week. All employees also had access to a full suite of eLearning resources covering topics such as decision making, conflict management, and partnership strategies.

The week itself, which takes place every year in May in the UK, provided a fantastic opportunity to find out how our employees like to learn, as well as showcasing some of the diverse skills and knowledge of Wilmington’s people.
